2008-2009 Volunteer Opportunities with ERCHA

Your help is very much appreciated and needed. Working together, we can enjoy even greater benefits in our efforts to support homeschool effectively. Please look over the list and check any and all areas where you or a family member may be able to assist or lead. Contact a board member if you have any question or comments.

Meetings:

Monthly Meeting set-up/clean-up - Help set up or clean up at an ERCHA meeting. Families are welcome to volunteer.

ERCHA Library - A coordinator and an assistant are needed to manage materials at the monthly meetings as well as maintain records of materials available and checked out.

Children's Activity Planner - Plan and/or provide activities for the children during meetings. You may sign up for one or more meetings.

Hospitality - Set the refreshment table for each meeting and coordinate volunteers to bring refreshments.

Great American Night - This activity will held at the ERCHA February meeting and features presentations by students related to American history. Assistants are needed to help plan and produce the program, help with setup, cleanup, or refreshments.

Project Fair – The Project Fair will take place at the ERCHA April meeting. Assistants needed to work with the coordinator in planning and organizing the presentations, setup or cleanup.

Activities & Events:

Field Trips - Plan one or more field trips this year for younger and/or older children.

Geography Bee - Assist the coordinator by reading questions to participants, keeping time, or acting as a judge.

December Ball - Help with set up, clean up, decorations or refreshments.

Young People’s Concert Tickets - Contact Anchorage Symphony Orchestra about seats for this event geared toward 4-6th graders. Provide a sign up for ERCHA families.

Moms’ Tea - Help the coordinator with food preparation, set up or clean up.

Graduation - Assist with set up, clean up or refreshments. Individuals or families are welcome to volunteer.

School Photos - Arrange for someone to take school pictures.

Yearbook - A coordinator and assistants are needed who will supervise the creation of a yearbook for our homeschool group.

Fun Social Activities - Would you be willing to lead or assist with a club or class?:

Hillberg Ski Days- need a military family to organize ski days for ERCHA and assist non-military ERCHA members to get on base.

Support:

Resource Reviews - Submit a review of a book or other resource from our resource library or curriculum you use for our newsletter.

Newsletter Articles - Write an homeschool related article or submit one with copyright permission from another source. Articles from children also welcome.

New Homeschooler Support - Email and/or call some of the new homeschoolers that contact ERCHA looking for information about homeschooling in general.

Moms’ Fellowships - Organize 2-3 evenings this school year for moms to fellowship, pray, eat or whatever you would like to plan that would bless moms.
