Educate your children with the encouragement and support of other homeschooling parents. Each month features a guest speaker or panel discussing issues that are relevant to you and your homeschooling day.  We would like to offer separate activities for children and teens during some of the more parent-related topics, but need member volunteers to make this happen. If you can help in either of these areas (even for just one meeting), please let one of the board members know.

Topics in the past have included:

  • How to Start a Homeschool School
  • Approaches and Learning Styles
  • What Homeschool Parents Need to Know About Drug Awareness and Education
  • Conquering Corrupt Culture by Raising Christian Communicators
  • Burn-out and Motivation; How to have a Great Homeschool Day
  • Joys and Challenges of Homeschooling at Different Stages
  • Spiritual Training of Our Children, Preparing Children for Life-Long Relationships
  • Using Computer for Home Learning
  • Maintaining Excellence in Your One Room School House
  • Organization; Planning
  • Nutritional Choices and Physical Fitness
  • Sharing Ideas for Real Life Math; Teaching Science Through God’s Creation; English and Literature for Elementary Grades Through High School; Teaching and Learning from Literature; How to Get Your Kids to Practice and Other Fine Arts Questions; Action Learning; Helping the Reluctant Writer; Using Poetry Throughout Your Curriculum
  • Help for Your Home School: What’s Working and What Needs Improvement
  • Efficient Uses of Textbooks; High School Helps; Record Keeping; Navigating the Maze of Preparing for College
  • Hiking Trails Safely in Alaska; Winter Survival for Moms; Hospitality
  • Encouraging and Lobbying Your Legislators
  • Contests and Competitions to Encourage Excellence and Team Spirit
There will be a sign up sheet at each meeting for families to serve as meeting hostesses, bring snacks or help coordinate a pre-meeting potluck. Contact any of our Board Members to volunteer. Thanks for considering to help in these ways!

Note: As with any regular meeting, we would like separate planned activities for children, but we need parent volunteers for this to happen. If you are interested in helping with this need during future, please contact our Chairman of the Board.
